Sage 200 Cloud Guide

Setting up the Sage 200 Cloud Integration

To access your users' data from Sage 200 Cloud, you need to enable the Sage 200 Cloud integration in the Platforms Page of the Rutter dashboard.

Sage 200 Cloud uses OAuth 2.0 and requires a developer app with a client ID and client secret, which you request from Sage. Once you have your credentials, you add them to the Rutter dashboard. See Developer App Requirements for an overview of which platforms need developer credentials.

Step 1: Request API credentials from Sage

Sage issues API credentials through its Developer Services team. Complete the Sage API account and credential request form:

Sage 200 API account request form

When completing the form:

  • Select Sage 200 as the target application.
  • Choose Web as the application type.
  • Request the maximum available refresh token expiry so connections stay authorized for as long as possible.
  • Enter Rutter's OAuth redirect URL as the callback URL: https://production.rutterapi.com/authentication/proxy/redirect-url

Sage will follow up by email with your account details and next steps for retrieving your credentials.

Step 2: Retrieve your client ID and client secret

Following Sage's instructions, register on the Sage developer portal at developer.columbus.sage.com and retrieve the client ID and client secret for your Sage 200 app.

Step 3: Add your credentials to Rutter

In the Platforms Page of the Rutter dashboard, select Sage 200 Cloud, enter your client ID and client secret, and enable the integration.

User Authentication with Sage 200 Cloud

A Rutter Connection is created when your end user authenticates their Sage 200 Cloud account via Rutter Link. This in turn allows you to access their account data via the Rutter API.

Sage 200 Cloud uses OAuth 2.0. When your end user connects through Rutter Link, they will be redirected to Sage's login page at id.sage.com to authorize access. After approving access, they will be redirected back and the connection will be established automatically.

No additional credential fields need to be entered by the end user — the OAuth redirect flow handles authentication.

Companies and sites

A single Sage 200 account can contain multiple companies. When your end user authorizes access, Rutter connects to the company associated with their Sage 200 login. If a connection is reading data from the wrong company, or you need to connect additional companies, reach out to your Rutter customer success manager.
