Setting up the Tally Integration

To access your users' data from Tally, you need to enable the Tally integration in the Platforms Page of the Rutter dashboard.

Tally is a desktop accounting application. The integration uses an inbound connector model, where data is pushed from the user's local Tally installation to Rutter. No additional developer app setup is required in the Rutter dashboard.

User Authentication with Tally

A Rutter Connection is created when your end user authenticates their Tally account via Rutter Link. This in turn allows you to access their account data via the Rutter API.

Because Tally is a desktop application, authentication is completed by the user supplying their Tally company ID in Rutter Link. This company ID identifies the specific Tally company to connect. Once submitted, Rutter issues an inbound access token that the Tally connector uses to push data to Rutter.

Your end user will need access to the computer running Tally to complete setup and initiate syncs.
