Setting up the Gusto Integration

To access your users' data from Gusto, you need to enable the Gusto integration in the Platforms Page of the Rutter dashboard.

Gusto uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication. You will need to register a developer application with Gusto and provide your OAuth client credentials in the Rutter dashboard before your users can connect.

User Authentication with Gusto

A Rutter Connection is created when your end user authenticates their Gusto account via Rutter Link. This in turn allows you to access their account data via the Rutter API.

When your end user selects Gusto in Rutter Link, they will be redirected to Gusto to authorize access via the standard OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow. After the user grants permission, Rutter exchanges the authorization code for an access token and automatically identifies the associated Gusto company to complete the connection.
